Sample Menu

Le Jardin provides a nutritious vegetarian* lunch and two snacks each day. Weekly menus are planned by our Food Co-ordinator, who also does the shopping. Food is prepared and served by the Duty-Day Parent, with some prep work done a day in advance where possible. (*We do not serve meat or fish. We do include eggs and dairy.)

MENU:

April 11th – 15th, 2012

MONDAY

Notes & Feedback

am Snack: Yoghurt/apple sauce, fruit, and cereal
Lunch: Split pea soup
pm Snack: Toasted bagels with cream cheese
Prep: 1. Cook 2 boxes rotini and2. Sauté onion with ½ package of veggie ground round and add to tomato sauce
 

TUESDAY

Notes & Feedback

am Snack: Cran-apple English muffins with choice of spread and fruit
Lunch: Rotini with high-protein tomato sauce – garnish with grated cheese if desired
pm Snack: Toasted pita with hummous
Prep: 1. Bake carrot muffins and 2. Grate cheese and zucchini
 

WEDNESDAY

Notes & Feedback

am Snack: Yoghurt/applesauce, fruit, and cereal
Lunch: Mini pizzas with sneaky zucchini on wholewheat English muffins
pm Snack: Carrot muffins
Prep: Make quinoa-rice and veggie pilaf Use up rice, red lentils, frozen peas, and carrots (if any left)
 

THURSDAY

am Snack: Toasted breakfast pitas with choice of spread and fruit
Lunch: Quinoa-rice and veggie pilaf
pm Snack: Crackers, cheese, and raisins
Prep: Bake banana flax muffins
 

FRIDAY

Notes & Feedback

am Snack: Yoghurt/apple sauce, fruit, and cereal
Lunch: Leftovers and if needed, scrambled eggs, toast and veggie sausages
pm Snack: Banana flax muffins and raisins
Prep: Make blueberry flax pancakes for Monday Instead of double batch, please do 1.5 – okay to use 100% ww flour
